AMJM, Kenya
Age: 10
Nadia and her brother, Wycliffe, are students at the Rebirth Academy, the school operated by our partner ministry, Abundant Mercy of Jesus Ministries in Kenya. They grew up only knowing a life of abandonment and survival. Born into a life of severe poverty, they never knew their father. Their mother abandoned them leaving them with their elderly grandmother. Their grandmother was an alcoholic often leaving at night without returning, neglecting to feed or provide basic needs such as clothing or taking them to the doctor. In fact, the only clothing these children owned were the school uniforms that were provided free through Kenya Now’s scholarship program. The food provided by Kenya Now’s Nutrition Program provided these children, as well as nearly 100 other local children, with 3 well balanced meals per day. Before attending this school Nadia and Wycliffe often went days without food and drank filthy water. In March of 2024, following the tragic death of student Tamu (read her story here), the Director of AMJM identified these children as being in dire living conditions and had them removed from their grandmother’s house. They are now permanent residents at the Abundant Mercy Orphanage, a place where shelter and food is secure, healthcare is provided, education is celebrated and love and acceptance is paramount. These children will be going through a healing process that many of us will never endure or understand. We are confident that through the love and acceptance our Savior Jesus Christ that these children will slowly yet surely begin to find their new identity and precious worth.
How do our sponsorships work?We only post sponsorships for the orphans at the AMJM children’s home. Each sponsorship profile represents all the neglected children in the surrounding community that we serve. Each of our sponsorship profiles has multiple $30 “shares”. These shares allow multiple people to sponsor the same student helping Kenya Now and AMJM the opportunity to provide free education to children affected by severe poverty. As of April 2024, 84 children are provided free education because of the 16 Young Student Sponsorship profiles listed on our online portal.
Please consider sponsoring this child today.
