Miriam B. (AMJM)

AMJM, Kenya
Age: 18
2025 Update - My name is Miriam and I attend Rebirth Academy in Kenya.  I live at Rebirth Children's Home and one of my favorite things to do is sing. One of my favorite memory verses is John 13:4. Thank you for helping with my education and please pray for me. May God bless you!   (Translated interview 2/2022) - I used to live at home with my father. He started looking after a man's cow. That cow kicked my father and injured him. Someone gave my father money to go to the hospital, but he used it for alcohol instead. One day he fell very ill and his muscles grew stiff. He ended up dying soon after of tetanus disease. My mother never cared for me because she is sick in the head and doesn’t even take care of herself.

Bravin W. (AMJM)

AMJM, Kenya
Bravin was interviewed in February 2022 and had very limited knowledge on his past. Bravin had been living with his grandparents when Bishop took him into the children’s home. He does not remember his parents but according to the grandparents they had both died of unknown causes. The grandparents called the bishop pleading for help as they could not afford to feed or shelter him. Bravin has no siblings. The grandparents visit often and Braven has been known to become sad during their visits for fear that he would have to return back to their home. He expresses that he feels safe and loved at the children’s home.

David W. (AMJM)

AMJM, Kenya
Age: 18
2025 Update - My name is David and I attend Rebirth Academy in Kenya.  I live at Rebirth Children's Home and one of my favorite things to do is pray. One of my favorite memory verses is Philippians 4:4. Thank you for helping with my education and please pray for me. May God bless you!   Translated interview 2/2022 - We lived with my mother in a house that was falling apart and we had no food or supplies. Whenever it would rain, the roof would leak and our house was tilting and falling over because it was made of clay. One day my mother fell ill and ended up dying from her illness. We don’t know who our father is. When we first came to the orphanage and we’re placed in school we were very scared but have grown to love it here. School was hard at first, but now we are doing better.   Doctors believe that David had polio when he was younger due to a malformation and disability to his left leg. David maintains the ability to ambulate with a limp and frequently kicks soccer balls with the other children even though his foot is severely rotated.

Whenever it would rain, the roof would leak and our house was tilting and falling over because it was made of clay. One day my mother fell ill and ended up dying from her illness. We don’t know who our father is. When we first came to the orphanage and were placed in school we were very scared. But now we have grown to love it here. School was hard at first and now we are doing better.   Like most of the children in these poor communities, Emmanuel was severely behind in his education. As of winter 2022 he has worked hard to achieve the 6th grade. He could use continued prayers to help him achieve his educational goals!

I had no clothes, no shoes and we rarely ate food. I had rashes all over my body and painful bites to my feet (chiggers, a common parasite that infects the feet and hands). One day my mom told me that we needed to go to the church. This is when Bishop invited me to stay here at the orphanage. He took me to the hospital where I was healed of my skin infections. My mother occasionally comes to visit me.
