Kenya Now Organization, along with partner NGO, distribute grain/legume bulk foods to surrounding communities during seasons of hunger often feeding thousands in a single event. This has been increasingly difficult due to inflated costs of bulk foods. The neediest time has often been dry seasons during winter and spring. But that season has been stretched causing hunger to be felt year round for many families living in poverty throughout East Africa.
Help us feed hungry families today.
Today I have a project update as well as an urgent call for help. Our water runoff project has been in progress—building retaining walls, digging water retention tanks, and planting grass for water absorption (and esthetics, too!). We had a couple of generous donors who made this expensive project happen, and we want you to know how appreciative we are for those selfless gifts. This need wouldn’t have been filled without you. You can view videos of the project progress below. While that work continues, our most urgent need right now is for our next food distribution event happening in just a few weeks! We always aim to raise $5,000 in hopes to feed over 2,500 people during these hard times of food insecurity between harvests, when jobs are far and few between. Every donation is a blessing that goes well beyond nutrients and hits deep to the core of hope. These events not only feed people with food, but provide us the opportunity to feed people the truth of the gospel to thousands at a time. Please help us reach our goal. With current bulk food prices, $100 can feed around 50 people. Would you be willing to sponsor this event? Food distributions are one of my favorite parts of what we do. Nothing shows the strength of our partnership between Kenya Now and AMJM quite like coming together to fundraise for and host these large scale events. This past Tuesday, I had the opportunity to speak in front of nearly a thousand people. I shared the heart behind these distributions (following the example of Jesus), and spent time asking questions and listening as people opened up about their struggles during seasons of hunger. Hearing their stories is sobering. Seeing the desperation as families come for food is something that stays with you. It’s also what fuels me to come home and keep fundraising at full speed. There’s one more part of these events that means a lot to me. I get to do them alongside my entire family, children and all. Thank you for the support you continue to show our ministry. Together, we are doing the work of God. Check out this reel from our most recent food distribution event.
