Our students are enjoying their end-of-year break! Unlike schools here in the USA, schools in Kenya have three terms between January and the end of October. November starts their national examinations and break, and school doesn't resume until the beginning of the new year. Let's just say they are pretty excited, as this break is essentially their American "summer."
Healthy Child Program Update
We have been battling recurring bed bugs at the orphanage. Our kids can carry these critters into the dormitories from school and, given the climate, they are very difficult to get rid of. Please be praying as our caregiver staff and school nurse continue to remedy this issue.
Christmas Events
We do two things every year that we really look forward to. First, we put on a special food distribution just for our widows, providing the essentials to cook a nice meal for the holiday. Second, we put on a banquet for all the orphans in the community, which is unfortunately a lot. This is a time to provide a Christmas meal, cake, and show them all how much love we have for them. Rash Guard Fundraiser
This is a fundraiser I am very excited about. Many people have been asking me, "What exactly is a rash guard?" I thought they were kidding, but it apparently isn't common knowledge! I understand now that not everyone participates in sweaty grappling sports. But for those who do, this fundraiser is for you!
We received 20 pre-orders, which I am counting as a total success. I am ordering 50 shirts (the minimum for bulk orders), so it is not too late to buy one while supplies last! Head on over to our Swag Shop to choose the design you want. Our system will let you know if your size is sold out. The order has officially been placed, and I will let you know as soon as we have an expected delivery date. I am hoping they arrive before Christmas, but don't hold your breath!
