How does the sponsorship model work? (Pooled Funding)

When you sponsor a child for 19–39, your contribution is pooled to ensure that all children at Rebirth Academy and the Children’s Home have what they need to thrive. While the funds are pooled, your personal connection is unique! You can focus your prayers and encouragement on the specific child you choose. Choosing any child makes a powerful impact on the entire community.

What is the Nutrition Program?

Our nutrition program provides three meals a day, every single day, to all children in our program and many from the surrounding community. This consistency helps physical health and mental focus, directly leading to improved test scores. All children eat, regardless of food scarcity in the community.

How does the Healthy Child Program work?

The Healthy Child Program acts like a collective insurance policy for our children. Health funds pay for supplies, staff nurses, and the ability to outsource higher needs of care. Our school nurse continually assesses, treats, and monitors the health and growth our children. The nurses staffed at Rebirth Academy and Children's Home were once students who graduated from Kenya Now's university sponsorship program. This perfectly demonstrates our 360 dgree approach to breaking the chain of poverty (opportunity, education, and giving back). This vital program provides every healthcare need a child may have, ensuring they stay healthy and smiling.

What are Food Distribution Events?

During "seasons of hunger" (periods between harvests when prices spike), we host large-scale events to feed families. We monitor the children at our compound to identify when the community needs urgent assistance, then we respond with your support.

Can I join a Team Trip to Kenya?

Yes! Every year we bring a team to see the impact firsthand. It’s an amazing opportunity to meet Bishop Petroba and Ruth, step out of your comfort zone, and experience the joy of the children in person. Sign up for updates to learn about future trips.

How does Kenya Now operate in Kenya?

We partner with trusted local ministries like Abundant Mercy of Jesus Ministries in Kitale. They provide the leadership and community trust, while we provide the resources to break the cycle of poverty.

How are donations used?

Your donation is allocated to the purpose you select. However, to keep programs running smoothly, the Kenya Now Board of Directors may redirect funds when urgent needs arise. Sponsorship donations are pooled to benefit all children in the program, covering: teacher and staff salaries, educational materials, school maintenance, nutrition and healthcare needs. Because donations are promptly used to sustain ongoing programs, they are non-refundable.

Are trip deposits and payments refundable if I need to cancel my trip?

All contributions made toward a trip deposit or overall trip costs are non-refundable. In the event of a voluntary or unforeseen cancellation, travelers may recoup eligible trip expenses through our required travel insurance policy. Please note that exact reimbursement amounts vary by claim, and participants are personally responsible for submitting and following through with all insurance claims directly with the provider.

What travel insurance is required for Team Trips, and how do I purchase it?

All participants are required to carry active travel insurance covering international medical emergencies, evacuation, and trip cancellation/interruption. Detailed coverage guidelines and recommended providers will be shared with you upon trip registration.

Are there physical or passport requirements for joining a Kenya trip?

Yes. All trip participants must hold a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the planned return date. Depending on current travel regulations, an electronic travel authorization (eTA) or visa may also be required prior to departure. Additionally, team members should be prepared for moderate physical activity in warm, high-altitude environments.

Can I send physical care packages or gifts directly to my sponsored child?

To ensure fairness and avoid feelings of exclusion among the children, we do not allow individual physical care packages or gifts to be shipped directly. Instead, we encourage sending letters of encouragement or donating toward our community-wide nutrition and program funds, which directly benefit all children equally. Please send scanned or typed letters to our sponsorship team: sponsorships@kenyanow.org

How can my church, business, or community group partner with Kenya Now?

We welcome partnerships with churches, businesses, and civic groups! Organizations can host targeted fundraisers, sponsor specific community initiatives (such as food distribution events), and more. Please contact our team at opportunities@kenyanow.org to discuss custom partnership opportunities.

Does Kenya Now share Christian teachings?

Yes. We partner with a Christian ministry and teach biblical values while serving all with compassion.

How do I give through a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)?

DAF donations are an easy way to donate from your brokerage account and save on capital gains tax. Firms such as Fidelity, Vanguard, and Schwab make it easy. Use our EIN: 93-2862866.

What is REACH?

REACH is our secure platform for managing donations, child sponsorships, and supporter profiles. It’s where you update payment methods and view child updates.

Can I write to my sponsor child?

Absolutely! We welcome letters of encouragement from our sponsors. Because Kenya Now uses a collective sponsorship model that benefits all children, we ask that letters be addressed to an entire classroom or children's home rather than an individual child. You might begin with "Dear Students" or "Hello Rebirth Academy friends" and share a little about yourself, your family, hobbies, or life in your community. You can also ask about the children's favorite subjects, sports, or activities, and offer words of encouragement as they learn and grow. Please avoid references to individual sponsorship, financial support, or promises of gifts. All letters are reviewed by our team before being shared with the children to help ensure everyone feels equally valued and included. Please reach out to our sponsorship team with questions: sponsorships@kenyanow.org.
